2024 Chevrolet Suburban Models and Pricing
Beginning at $59,200, the 2024 Chevrolet Suburban offers the base LS model with rear-wheel drive. For Z71 models, four-wheel drive comes standard, while adding 4WD to other variants incurs an additional $3,000. At the pinnacle of the lineup, a fully-equipped High Country model can surpass the $85,000 mark.

The Suburban offers a variety of engine options, including a pair of V-8s and a diesel six-cylinder, all paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission and available in rear- or all-wheel drive configurations. Standard on most models is a 355-hp 5.3-liter V-8, while the top-tier High Country trim boasts a 420-hp 6.2-liter V-8. Additionally, the High Country can be equipped with an optional diesel 3.0-liter six-cylinder, which, despite its lower horsepower output of 277, matches the torque of the larger V-8 at 460 pound-feet. The Suburban also offers features like adaptive dampers and an adjustable air suspension, allowing for automatic or manual adjustment of the ride height to enhance passenger accessibility, aerodynamics, and ground clearance. For those seeking sporty aesthetics, the RST model offers blacked-out exterior trim and 22-inch wheels, while the Z71 trim level presents a rugged appearance with 20-inch wheels wrapped in all-terrain tires, underbody skid plates, and a two-speed transfer case for traditional four-wheel drive capability.
Fuel economy
Equipped with the standard 5.3-liter V8 engine and rear-wheel drive, the Chevy Suburban achieves a fuel economy rating of 17 mpg in mixed city/highway driving. With 4-wheel drive, this figure slightly decreases to 16 mpg. Similarly, the Suburban equipped with the 6.2-liter engine, whether in rear-wheel drive or 4-wheel drive configuration, also achieves a combined fuel economy of 16 mpg. However, opting for the diesel engine offers superior fuel efficiency. The 6-cylinder diesel engine delivers 23 mpg combined with rear-wheel drive and 22 mpg with 4-wheel drive, outperforming both gasoline engine options.
Massive Interior
Similar to its Tahoe counterpart, the Chevy Suburban stands out as one of the few vehicles capable of accommodating up to nine passengers. This configuration is exclusive to the base LS model, featuring a front passenger bench.
However, most trims offer two front bucket seats, accommodating seven or eight passengers depending on the configuration of the middle row, whether it’s a bench or a pair of captain’s seats. The Premier and High Country trims come standard with captain’s chairs, aligning with their luxurious appointments.
The base LS model offers a rather simplistic interior, adorned with cloth upholstery and an 8-inch center touchscreen for infotainment control. For those with more flexible budgets, we recommend considering at least an LT trim, which boasts leather-appointed upholstery and upgraded interior technology, including a 10.2-inch infotainment screen and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster.
Higher-tier models approach Cadillac Escalade levels of luxury, featuring heated and ventilated front seats, a power-adjustable steering column, and a convenient power-operated center console that can create additional space between the front seats.
However, one feature we find less favorable is the button-operated shift system, which replaces the traditional shift knob or column on the steering wheel. While it saves space on the dashboard, it can be cumbersome to use, especially when maneuvering in tight spaces and requiring multiple shifts.
Extra-Large Exterior
The 2024 Suburban is undeniably massive, stretching 225.7 inches, or nearly 19 feet, in length. To provide context, the Tahoe clocks in at 210.7 inches.
If you’re considering parking this sizable Chevy SUV in your garage, it’s wise to measure first. Similar to its Tahoe counterpart, the Suburban carries its substantial dimensions with grace.
As a large, boxy SUV, its design exudes a utilitarian aesthetic, yet manages to avoid appearing ostentatious.
Each trim level offers subtle distinctions; for instance, the High Country boasts a touch more chrome, while the Z71 off-road variant features a distinctive honeycombed grille, reinforced underbody protection, and eye-catching red-accented recovery hooks, complemented by robust all-terrain tires.
Safety
