2024 Ford Mustang MACH-E Reviews, Prices and Specs

The 2024 Ford Mustang Mach-E stands out as a top-tier electric SUV, blending impressive range capabilities and cutting-edge technology with a touch of automotive legend. Its well-rounded nature encompasses not only remarkable range figures but also a familiar sense of heritage, a rarity in its segment. From its captivating design to its engaging driving dynamics, including advanced self-driving capabilities such as Ford’s BlueCruise system, the Mustang Mach-E offers a driving experience that resonates with enthusiasts. With a maximum range of 310 miles and the Premium AWD variant boasting a commendable 290-mile range, the Mach-E remains competitive among its peers in terms of efficiency. Couple these attributes with strong resale value, and the Mustang Mach-E emerges as a compelling choice catering to diverse buyer preferences.

This year marks the anticipated compatibility milestone between Ford’s electric vehicles and Tesla’s fast charging network, facilitated by an adapter available for models equipped with a CCS charge port, notably the 2024 Mach-E. Additionally, Ford introduces a new variant, the Rally, featuring a slightly elevated ride height along with distinctive cosmetic enhancements.

Anticipated to commence around $43,500, the 2024 Ford Mustang Mach-E’s Select trim, featuring rear-wheel drive and a standard battery with a maximum range of 247 miles. Upgrading to the extended-range battery adds $3,000, while opting for all-wheel drive incurs an additional $3,000. The Premium AWD version, equipped with the larger battery, is expected to start in the mid-50s, reflecting its popularity among buyers.

Furthermore, Ford provides 250 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of complimentary fast charging on the Electrify America network. However, this offering falls short when compared to competitors like the Volkswagen ID.4, which offers three years of unlimited 30-minute charging sessions.

The Mustang Mach-E offers two battery options: a standard-range 70.0-kWh battery and an extended-range 91.0-kWh pack. These batteries power either a single electric motor in the rear-wheel drive (RWD) versions of the Select and Premium trims or a motor on each axle in the all-wheel drive (AWD) variants of all four trims. The top-of-the-line GT and GT Performance models, exclusively available in AWD, boast a combined output of 480 horsepower and up to 634 pound-feet of torque from their dual motors. Impressively, the Mach-E GT Performance accelerates to 60 mph in just 3.7 seconds. Meanwhile, the less powerful models with RWD produce either 266 or 290 horsepower and 317 pound-feet of torque.

In AWD configurations, the Select and Premium trims deliver power ranging from 266 to 346 horsepower and torque ranging from 427 to 428 pound-feet. During our previous encounter with the Mach-E, particularly an extended-range AWD model, we found Ford’s electric SUV to be quicker and more engaging than many of its competitors. Beyond its diverse power levels, the Mach-E stands out for its comprehensive feature set, quiet operation, and smooth ride, making it a compelling choice for electric vehicle shoppers.

The Premium AWD version of the Mustang Mach-E boasts a range of 290 miles on a full charge, providing a five-mile advantage over a comparable Hyundai Ioniq 5. However, the Mach-E variant with the longest range is the Premium model with rear-wheel drive and the extended battery, offering an impressive range of 310 miles.

While the Mustang Mach-E excels on the road with its performance, the charging process is less remarkable. Utilizing a DC fast charger, it takes approximately 45 minutes to charge the battery from 10% to 80%. In contrast, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 requires less than half that time for a similar charge. For a full recharge using a 240-volt system, expect to allocate around 11 hours.

The Mustang Mach-E’s interior exudes a cockpit-like ambiance, reflecting a touch of enthusiast influence in its design.

Despite its driver-centric layout, reminiscent of the Mustang’s spirit, the cabin maintains a spacious and accommodating atmosphere, unlike the more futuristic approach seen in the Ioniq 5.

While the sloping roofline may suggest limited rear passenger space, average-sized adults will find ample headroom and generous legroom measuring 38.1 inches, falling just short of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 EV by about an inch. Additionally, the Mach-E offers satisfactory outward visibility.

At the forefront of technology is a sizable 15.5-inch vertical infotainment touchscreen, easily accessible and user-friendly.

Complementing this feature is a standard 10.2-inch digital driver information display in every new Mustang Mach-E SUV. With the rear seats folded down, cargo space expands from 29.7 cubic feet to 59.7 cubic feet, a configuration similar to that of the Ioniq 5. Furthermore, a small storage area under the hood adds to the Mach-E’s practicality.

The Mustang Mach-E truly embodies the essence of its legendary namesake, particularly in its design.

Despite featuring four doors, the Mach-E retains a distinctly coupe-like appearance, with taillights that unmistakably pay homage to its iconic pony car lineage.

While there was initial skepticism regarding the marketing strategy of associating the electric vehicle with the renowned Mustang brand, the overall outcome is undeniably impressive.

Beyond just its striking aesthetics, the Mach-E impresses with its performance and features, solidifying its place as a worthy addition to the Mustang legacy.

The Mustang Mach-E demonstrated commendable performance in crash tests conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), achieving top scores of Good in multiple categories. However, it has yet to receive additional accolades such as the Top Safety Pick designation. Despite this, the Mustang Mach-E comes equipped with a comprehensive suite of standard safety features aimed at enhancing driver and passenger protection. These include forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring with cross-traffic alert, lane-keeping assistance, evasive steering assistance, and rear parking sensors.
