Overview
The 2024 Lincoln Nautilus luxury midsize SUV makes its debut in a new generation this year, continuing its tradition of offering a spacious, comfortable, and well-appointed cabin. As the second iteration of the Nautilus hits the road, it aims to redefine luxury travel by providing occupants with a serene and tranquil environment, shielding them from the roughness of the outside world. With expanded interior space, the Nautilus becomes an attractive option for families requiring ample room for passengers and cargo alike. Moreover, the incorporation of high-resolution displays appeals to technology enthusiasts, while the inclusion of premium materials such as fine leather and wood maintains the vehicle’s tradition of elegance and sophistication.
What’s New for 2024?
The latest iteration of the Nautilus debuts for this model year, boasting a complete overhaul with enhanced technology abundance. While the base engine output remains largely unchanged from its predecessor, notable updates abound. This time, there’s no provision for a turbocharged V6; however, Lincoln introduces a hybrid drivetrain option. Moreover, production has shifted to China with this new generation.
2024 Lincoln Nautilus Models and Pricing
The 2024 Lincoln Nautilus begins at $52,010, marking the entry point for the Premiere trim equipped with the standard gasoline engine. Opting for the hybrid drivetrain adds an additional $1,500 across all variants. While there’s a substantial price jump between the mid-level Reserve trim (which we suggest) and the top-tier Black Label, it grants Reserve buyers considerable flexibility with available options. A Reserve model with the hybrid configuration would commence at approximately $58,000.
2024 Lincoln Nautilus | MSRP |
Nautilus Premiere | $52,010 |
Nautilus Reserve | $56,345 |
Nautilus Black Label | $75,845 |
Engine, Transmission, and Performance
Beneath the hood of the Nautilus lies a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four engine generating 250 horsepower and 275 pound-feet of torque. Standard features include an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. For the hybrid variant, the turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four engine collaborates with a 100 kW electric motor, culminating in a combined output of 310 horsepower. However, our assessment of this model is covered separately. The previously available 330-hp twin-turbo V-6 has been discontinued, reflecting the evolving trends; the new model’s powertrain options are expected to deliver superior fuel efficiency compared to the V-6. On the road, the Nautilus offers a serene and comfortable ride. In Normal drive mode, the suspension adeptly absorbs most road imperfections. Engaging the sharper Excite mode introduces a firmer setup, reducing body roll in corners but occasionally resulting in a harsher ride, particularly with the largest 22-inch wheels.
Fuel Economy
The latest Nautilus achieves 24 mpg in combined city and highway driving with its base turbocharged 2.0-liter engine. This surpasses the Genesis GV80 2.5T by a few miles per gallon, although the BMW X5 xDrive40i holds a one-mile-per-gallon edge over the Lincoln. Meanwhile, the hybrid drivetrain boasts an impressive 30 mpg combined.
Spacious And Stylish Interior
The new Nautilus SUV impresses with its refined 2-row/5-passenger cabin, featuring premium materials and meticulous attention to detail. Soft-touch points and a gracefully curved dashboard create a luxurious atmosphere, enhanced by a nearly full-width screen displaying essential information with customizable options.
Additional touches like the 11.1-inch touchscreen, wireless phone integration, and gaming capability further elevate the infotainment experience, while thoughtful ergonomics ensure ease of use, exemplified by the large volume control on the center console.
The steering wheel’s design facilitates clear visibility of instruments and the road ahead, contributing to an overall sense of spaciousness within the cabin. Despite the base trim’s simulated leather seating, options for genuine leather and personalized interior themes are available, along with a fragranced cabin air system, catering to individual preferences.
With generous rear legroom, adjustable seats, and ample cargo space, the Nautilus offers exceptional comfort and versatility, although some competitors boast slightly greater cargo capacity due to differing priorities in design.
Welcoming Exterior
The latest iteration of the Nautilus luxury SUV introduces a refreshed aesthetic, though not drastically divergent from its predecessor.
Each trim level boasts a unique grille design, while Lincoln’s Welcome lighting, projecting the company logo as puddle lights onto the ground, comes standard.
For current Nautilus owners contemplating an upgrade, this new generation is approximately 3 inches longer yet slightly narrower, ensuring compatibility with most garages.
Regrettably, the optional Jet Appearance package does not feature wings, disappointing some enthusiasts, but it compensates with larger alloy wheels (20-inch for the Premiere, 22-inch for the Reserve and Black Label), black and body-colored exterior accents, and lower body cladding, adding a touch of sportiness to the design.
Safety
Included among the standard safety features are forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection, intersection assistance, blind-spot monitoring with cross-traffic alert and rear cross-traffic braking, evasive steering assistance, a 360-degree camera system, and adaptive cruise control with a stop/go function.
