Overview
Priced starting at $56,100, the 2024 Volvo XC90 continues to stand as a solid and stylish contender in the competitive midsize 3-row luxury SUV category. Renowned for its combination of reliability and elegance, the XC90 offers seating for up to seven passengers within a meticulously crafted, high-quality interior. Boasting an array of standard safety features, advanced technology, and premium audio systems, the XC90 ensures both comfort and entertainment for its occupants. Volvo’s expertise in providing a plush and secure driving experience shines through in every detail of the XC90’s design. While this generation has been in production since the 2016 model year, its enduring appeal remains undiminished, particularly for those seeking a refined and timeless luxury SUV option. However, for those desiring the latest innovations, the all-new, all-electric Volvo EX90 midsize 3-row luxury SUV offers an alternative worth exploring, reviewed separately for detailed consideration.
What’s New for 2024?
In the top-tier Ultimate trim, laminated side windows are now included to enhance cabin tranquility. Additionally, the B6 Ultimate model introduces the option for a new 22-inch wheel design, with a shift from one gray color to another. However, the B5/Plus variant no longer qualifies for a head-up display, and the Dark appearance package, featuring black exterior elements, is discontinued. Considering these adjustments, it wouldn’t be unexpected if more substantial changes were introduced in the following year.
2024 Volvo XC90 Models and Pricing
Priced starting at $56,100, the 2024 Volvo XC90 offers the Core trim/B5 drivetrain, which comes equipped with a generous array of standard features, including all-wheel drive and a comprehensive suite of safety technologies. Opting for the more potent B6 drivetrain typically adds approximately $4,000 to $5,000 to the price, contingent on the chosen trim. However, the combustion-only version of the Ultimate trim includes this upgrade as standard. Among buyers, the Plus B6 variant appears to be the preferred choice, offering a compelling blend of performance and features.

Cool Interior
In the 2024 Volvo XC90 luxury 3-row SUV, buyers have the option of seating for six or seven passengers. However, regardless of seating configuration, the third row, with its 31.9 inches of legroom, is better suited for children than adults.
Nevertheless, adults will find ample comfort in the first two rows of seating. Volvo’s signature understated elegance is evident throughout the interior, particularly up front, where high-quality materials and impeccable craftsmanship define the design ethos.
While the B5 Core version features simulated leather seating surfaces, genuine leather upholstery is standard in other variants.
All XC90 models boast exceptionally comfortable front seats, with even the Core trim offering heated, 10-way power-adjustable seats with memory settings for the driver.
Cargo space is plentiful, ranging from 15.8 to 85.7 cubic feet, ranking favorably within its class. This holds true for the XC90 Recharge as well, as the plug-in hybrid technology does not compromise cargo capacity.
Timeless Exterior
Despite its initial debut in 2016, the current generation of the XC90 luxury SUV maintains a remarkably fresh and timeless appearance, thanks to its clean and elegant design that has aged gracefully over the years.
This year, the lineup receives a subtle refresh with the introduction of Vapour Grey Metallic, which replaces the previous Thunder Grey Metallic, adding a touch of modernity to the color options.
Furthermore, the option for illuminated running boards is now available across the entire lineup, enhancing both style and functionality for XC90 owners.
These updates continue to reinforce the XC90’s position as a standout choice in the luxury SUV segment, blending sophistication with practicality in a seamless manner.
